1,000 Nurses Needed in UK by Medicare Staffing Ltd

Medicare Staffing Limited, a London-based company registered with POEA as Foreign Placement Agency (FPA), is looking to recruit a total of 1,000 nurses from now up until the next three years. It is one of the eight verified FPAs mentioned during our UK job opening article.

The company will be at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Galleria this November 25, 26, and 27 to interview nurses along with a British panel of Kingston Hospital in London.

The event will start with a drug calculation test (see our practice dosage calculation exams here) at 7:30 AM to 8:30AM followed by a more or less 30 minutes interview with the panel from Kingston Hospital’s senior nurses. On the 28th of November, there will be an induction for successful applicants.

Walk-in applicants will not be entertained so please follow their application process below.

Qualifications

Nurse applicants need to be registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) before they can work in the UK as a nurse. However, they can apply for their Tier 2 visa as soon as they pass part 1 of the Test of Competence. At this time the sponsoring hospital will be sending their Restricted Certificate of Sponsorship.

When the nurses arrive in the hospital they will be working initially as Band 3 pre-registered nurses. During this time they will prepare then take the part 2 of the Test of Competence. Once the test is passed, they’ll then apply to be a registered nurse and have their Professional Identification Number (PIN). At this point, they will become Band 5 nurses.

Applicants should have the at least the following qualifications:

• Registered with UK Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Complete the registration process and pass the two tests: (1) a computer-based test; and (2) a practical test. For more details, visit this link.
• Graduate of a nursing degree and registered in the country of origin. The degree must be obtained in an institution recognised by the UK Home Office.
• At least 1 year work experience post qualification in a hospital setting. Experience as a volunteer will be counted as long as taken post qualification.
• IELTS score of 7 or higher in each of the aspects of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
• Good health (including x-ray for TB) and no criminal record.

Interested nurses who have not passed their IELTS but have good work experience should send their CVs as well.

Application process

2. CVs will be reviewed.
3. If CV’s are good, Skype interview is arranged with Project Manager in the UK.
4. Invited to attend interview in Manila.
5. All successful candidates will attend a half day induction on the 28th of November.
6. Those with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) decision letter will not need to do steps 7, and 8.
7. Attend review for NMC exam Test of competence – part one. 
8. Take Test of competence – part one. 
9. After passing the exam, Visa application follows.
10. Flight to the UK arranged.

Salary

Expected salary will be Band 3 or £16,271 (roughly P1,155,241) per annum while they are still awaiting to pass of NMC’s Test of Competence – part two. After passing the test and obtaining NMC Registration the salary will be Band 5 or £21,388 (roughly P1,518,548).
